after an Op I was given one of this design of stick by the NHS, after several years of steriling service I unfortunatly damaged it bending it. The replacement that i have been given has a different handle and i do not feel as secure on it.This stick has a shaped handle which fits the palm and has squared sides, so it does not rotate ing your hand when you are out in the rain etc. For me the hand grip is very comfortable and strong enought to allow me to lever my self up from kneeling down ( i am 20 + stone sadly).Ordered it in the PM and it was delivered the next day - brilliant. This stick is medical grade as supplied to NHS, very strong and made in U.K.I have been using mine for a few weeks now and it has been very good indeed. The thing I like most is it gives me confidence; The stick is very solid in use and I really like the large rubber tip which is actually quite soft and flexes slightly as you put the stick down giving a very good grip on all surfaces. The handle is quite smooth, presumably for ease of cleaning, but comfortable enough and is actually quite handy for pressing the disabled button to open doors.Adjustment is simple via the two side buttons and I often collapse my stick when in the car to save space and stop it getting in the way of things and it only takes a second to extend it again when leaving the car.All in all a bargain at the price. One from another brand was purchased when first needed several years ago but its handle recently suffered some damage, hence a replacement. This is a little heavier and feel more substantial although the design is essentially identical. This was ordered and required in the SHORT version and adjustable between 28-38 in (710-965 cm) - a personally suitable length was found to be about 31 inches (+/- 1/2 inch). While adjustment is not especially difficult, it is less easy with this than with the older version and those with reduced dexterity may have problems; a younger family member may be able to help.Bought for a relative who wanted to try one out. The NHS don't have a simple system through the Hospitals or local Surgeries to enable you to borrow one for a few days as they have none to spare ! (No wonder as they don't accept back any returns due to H&S rules apparently - how wasteful is that ?)Anyway , rant over , product is fine, well made and sturdy with good adjustment (5ft Granny fitted it well at about halfway adjustment)Very sturdy walking stick brilliant.I purchased the large stick for husband and he very happy, and I am not very tall so purchased the smaller one which is just great for me, what gets me though that the smaller walking stick it costs a bit more than the large walking stick why?But I recommend this walking stick
