excellent tool. can do real work on thick cuts of wood. helps in tree trimming. but also, perfect for outdoor or backwoods trips. a real tool in an efficient size and design. don't want to bring a chain saw deep in the woods? of course not. but this tool (and its family) are the legit replacement for when you can't have access to power tools for logistical reasons. you can absolutely fell trees with these saws. you can also do smaller work. various blade lengths and varied tooth coarseness work better for different jobs. best hand saws on earth. and these CUT FAST and EASY. we had a neighborhood service project where we trimmed community trees back to the city code regulations and this saw outdid all the other handsaws, and was on par with the chainsaws that showed up. it won some fans. filled 3 sets of trailers and truck beds with trimmings. if i treat this tool right, it'll last forever. excellent build quality. This saw absolutely rips through soft wood, and does great in hard wood. It's ergonomic and when in either of the two locked open positions, feels secure. The blade comes to you very sharp, be careful with this thing. But I have two concerns that really ought to be obvious for a quality and somewhat high priced tool:1. The blade does not lock in the closed position. This would be as simple as adding one more detent in the blade, and taking a look at the tool there is no reason this couldn't be implemented.2. The entire length of the blade should be protected when in the folded position. In the attached photo (there are no photos of the closed tool in the Amazon listing) you can see all the daylight visible for a ~60 mm length of the blade. Those teeth are sharp and want to grab hold of your clothes or anything else in the backpack you put the saw in. This coupled with the blade having no "lock shut" feature could result in a dangerous situation.Overall, I'm happy with the tool, but I'm currently designing a 3D printable solution to protect the teeth when closed and will use an elastic to hold the blade shut.Im a guide in Montana on snowmobile and I use this thing lots! It’s razor sharp and fits in my backpack barely, worth itReally cuts through wood quickly. Perfect size and angle for cutting. The rugged version or outdoors version might even be better but this get the job done.Another great saw from Silky. They're worth the extra money and this size is great. A little heavy for for backpacking but totally worth it if it's a bigger group and you know you'll be processing quite a bit of firewood. Good price for the size too, when compared to the even bigger Silky sawsLove it went fishing and used it to cut firewood from fallen trees@ easypeasy its awsomeThe Silky Professional Bigboy 2000 saw works great! The blade comes from the factory insanely sharp and cuts through branches and small trees like butter. Would recommend!Almost just as fast as a Sawzall in softwoods. Hardwoods take a little extra time but still an amazing find! Sägeblatt könnte sich öffnen- Zusammengeklappt Spalt zwischen Griff und SägezähnenI had a smaller version of this for a while now. Cutting branches was ok, but when I got to bigger/thicker trees, it was a pain in the [***]. With this, it goes SO well. It's a lot easier and faster to cut larger trunks of wood. Tried it for the first time yesterday and it was nice. I was scared the blade would be flimsy (so many seem to say they break the blade). But I realized in general, it's good enough (you must do something wrong to break it). I just wish the replacement blades were cheaper ... it's almost the cost of the whole unit. Should not be!! The only other request I would like is if the blade, once closed, would lock in place like it locks open. I find that when I put it in my bag, it wants to open up. But so far, love it. Would recommend!Japanese saw. It cuts on the pull, not the push... Like a dovetail saw, but bigger. If you're not used to that it'll take a little getting used to; not long though. Thin blade, just have to be careful not to twist it on the push and keep the wood from pinching. Once you're used to it, it's so much easier and faster to cut with than a western style saw. Western saws, you have to push down on the wood and push hard. This saw, just pull back with a little downward pressure. Resist the urge to choke up on the handle. You don't need to. A lot of tree branches were knocked down in Toronto in a recent storm. I let several neighbours borrow this saw and they were all impressed. I should contact Silky about a commission. This saw is amazing! I purchased it to take with me when hunting and camping to allow me to cut up dead trees to make a blind, to reach out and cut branches that are blocking my shooting lanes for bow hunting from a tree stand and to process firewood. This saw is light, fits in my medium size backpack. The length of the blade and handle let me use 2 hands if needed or reach up and trim branches that are hanging over a trail or blocking my arrow's path when in a tree stand. Using it to cut branches while climbing up a tree to put up a stand is quick and easy!I've also used this saw to cut a fallen tree that was around 1' in diameter to make a bush craft bench. While it's a bit big to carry in a bag as a "just in case" saw, it fits in my medium size backpack and goes with me every time I go out now.broke on very first use!! This was a grey market product! the blade was clearly no of proper quaility!! BE VERY CAREFUL about buying these saws from amazon or third party buyers!! they say they're the pro saws THEY ARE NOT!! the first sign of it being grey market is that PROFESIONAL will no be etched into the blade! silky will no give you any support they will not warranty the product! it is MEDIOCORE product and will likley break!! LESSON LEARNED HERE!! ONLY buy these saws from legitimate silky retailers make sure you get the real deal!
